Hygiene Therapy

At Lion House Dental Practice, our dental therapists work alongside all dentists to support and encourage healthy oral hygiene habits. If you are referred to see a dental therapist, you are still required to visit your dentist for regular exams and necessary treatment.

What can a dental therapist do?

  • Prescribe and take X-Rays
  • Give local anaesthetic
  • Complete periodontal examinations as well as non-surgical periodontal treatment
  • Restore/fill adult and children's teeth
  • Place pre formed crowns on primary teeth
  • Apply fluoride and place fissure sealants
  • Root treatments of primary teeth 
  • Extract primary teeth
  • Impressions
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Preventative care and advice
